Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb Large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon Honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame seeds
  • 2 Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Cooked rice or quinoa (for serving) Optional, for serving

Equipment

  • Skillet or Wok
  • Mixing bowl

Method

Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, honey (or brown sugar), and rice vinegar. Mix well to create the marinade.
  2. Add the peeled and deveined shrimp to the marinade. Toss to coat the shrimp evenly and let them marinate for at least 15-30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated shrimp along with the marinade to the skillet.
  4. Cook the shrimp for about 3-4 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque, stirring frequently. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp.
  5. Once cooked, remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle the sesame seeds over the shrimp and toss to combine.
  6. Serve the teriyaki-style shrimp over cooked rice or quinoa. Garnish with chopped green onions for added flavor and color.

Notes

For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes to the marinade. You can also substitute shrimp with chicken or tofu for different variations.
