  • 3 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon Ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon Chili flakes adjust to taste
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • for garnish Fresh parsley, chopped
  • for serving Lemon wedges

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowl

Method

Instructions
  1. Start by patting the shrimp dry with paper towels. This will help achieve a nice sear when cooking.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the shrimp with olive oil, ground cumin, ground coriander, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Toss the shrimp until they are evenly coated with the spices.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned shrimp in a single layer. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan; you may need to cook in batches.
  4. Sear the shrimp for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink and begin to caramelize. Flip the shrimp and cook for another 2-3 minutes on the other side.
  5. In the last minute of cooking, add the minced garlic to the pan, stirring it around so it doesn’t burn. Cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  6. Once the shrimp are fully cooked, remove the skillet from heat. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  7. Serve the spicy shrimp hot, garnished with chopped parsley and lemon wedges on the side. Enjoy with your favorite side dish or over a bed of rice or pasta.

Notes

Feel free to adjust the spice level by increasing or decreasing the chili flakes. This dish pairs well with a side of rice or a fresh salad.
