  • 2 pieces T-bone steaks About 1 inch thick
  • 2 tablespoons Whole mustard seeds
  • 2 tablespoons Maple syrup
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 12 pieces Cipollini onions Peeled
  • 1 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar
  • for garnish Fresh thyme

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the mustard seeds and maple syrup until combined.
  3. Season the T-bone steaks with salt and pepper on both sides.
  4. Spread the mustard seed and maple mixture evenly over the top of the steaks, pressing it into the meat.
  5. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the cipollini onions and sauté until they are golden brown and charred, about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Drizzle the balsamic vinegar over the onions and stir to combine, cooking for an additional 2 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  7. Place the crusted T-bone steaks on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time depending on your desired doneness.
  8. Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Serve the T-bone steaks topped with the charred cipollini onions and garnish with fresh thyme.

Notes

For a different flavor, try using honey instead of maple syrup.
