Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 3 ½ cups of flour and salt.
- Make a well in the center of the flour mixture, and add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil.
- Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon until it starts to come together.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes, adding additional flour as needed, until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Form the dough into a ball and place it in a lightly greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap.
- Allow the dough to rise in a warm place for about 1 to 1 ½ hours, or until it has doubled in size.
- Once risen, punch down the dough to release air. Divide it into two equal portions for two pizzas.
- Roll out each portion on a floured surface to your desired thickness.
- Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza stone or baking sheet.
- Add your favorite toppings and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
For a thicker crust, let the dough rise longer. You can also add herbs to the dough for extra flavor.
