  • 4 cups Apple Cider Preferably unfiltered
  • 1/2 cup Bourbon Your favorite!
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar Packed
  • 1 Orange Zested and juiced (about 2 tablespoons juice)
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 4 Whole Cloves
  • 2 Star Anise
  • 4-6 slices Apple Slices For garnish (optional)

Method
 

Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine apple cider, bourbon, brown sugar, orange zest, orange juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the brown sugar is dissolved.
  3. Reduce heat to low and let it simmer gently for 15-20 minutes, or longer for a more intense flavor. Do not boil.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Carefully strain the cider (optional) to remove spices before serving for a smoother drink.
  6. Garnish each serving with a few apple slices, if desired.
  7. Serve warm in mugs or heat-safe glasses.

Notes

For a non-alcoholic version, omit the bourbon and add a splash of extra apple juice or maple syrup to taste. You can adjust the amount of spices to your preference. Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
