  • 12 ounces Fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Orange juice
  • 4 ounces Cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup Jalapeno pepper chopped, seeds removed for less heat
  • 1/4 cup Pecans or walnuts chopped, optional
  • 1 Orange zest optional

Method
 

Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, and orange juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until cranberries burst and sauce thickens slightly. Stir occasionally.
  3. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth and creamy.
  5. Gently fold the cooled cranberry sauce into the cream cheese mixture.
  6. Stir in chopped jalapeno, pecans/walnuts (if using), and orange zest (if using).
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  8. Serve with crackers, tortilla chips, or bread.

Notes

For a sweeter dip, increase the sugar to 3/4 cup. For extra spice, add more jalapeno or use serrano peppers instead. This dip can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
