- In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, and orange juice. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until cranberries burst and sauce thickens slightly. Stir occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let cool completely.
- In a medium bowl, beat softened cream cheese and mayonnaise until smooth and creamy.
- Gently fold the cooled cranberry sauce into the cream cheese mixture.
- Stir in chopped jalapeno, pecans/walnuts (if using), and orange zest (if using).
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Serve with crackers, tortilla chips, or bread.
Notes
For a sweeter dip, increase the sugar to 3/4 cup. For extra spice, add more jalapeno or use serrano peppers instead. This dip can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
