- If not already done, peel and devein the shrimp. Pat them dry with paper towels to ensure they sear nicely.
- In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Allow it to bubble slightly but do not let it brown.
- Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant and slightly golden, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
- Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the shrimp to the skillet, seasoning them with black pepper and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink.
- Once the shrimp are pink, flip them over and sprinkle the lemon zest and thyme leaves over the top. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the shrimp are fully cooked and opaque.
- Remove the skillet from heat. Serve the butter garlic shrimp immediately with lemon wedges on the side and garnish with fresh thyme sprigs.
Notes
For a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes while cooking.
