  • 1 lb Large shrimp, peeled and deveined About 450g
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 whole Lemon zest Zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh thyme leaves Or 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • to taste Salt
  • for serving Lemon wedges
  • for garnish Fresh thyme sprigs

Method
 

Instructions
  1. If not already done, peel and devein the shrimp. Pat them dry with paper towels to ensure they sear nicely.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Allow it to bubble slightly but do not let it brown.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant and slightly golden, stirring frequently to avoid burning.
  4. Increase the heat to medium-high. Add the shrimp to the skillet, seasoning them with black pepper and salt. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink.
  5. Once the shrimp are pink, flip them over and sprinkle the lemon zest and thyme leaves over the top. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until the shrimp are fully cooked and opaque.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat. Serve the butter garlic shrimp immediately with lemon wedges on the side and garnish with fresh thyme sprigs.

Notes

For a spicier kick, consider adding a pinch of red pepper flakes while cooking.
