Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, mashed avocado, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Mix the ingredients together until well combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the burgers tough.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat. Lightly oil the grill grates or skillet to prevent sticking.
- Cook the chicken patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they are fully cooked through (the internal temperature should reach 165°F).
- If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.
- Toast the whole wheat burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers by placing a cooked patty on the bottom half of each bun. Top with lettuce and tomato slices.
- Add the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
Notes
For added flavor, consider adding your favorite sauce or dressing to the assembled burger.
